Join Ranger Eric on a hike to find and learn about birds of prey!

We will be starting at the Pineywoods Boardwalk Trailhead. We will be walking from the Pineywoods Boardwalk Trailhead to Duck Pond. When we arrive at Duck Pond, we will walk to the field next to the wastewater ponds to get a more open view of the sky and will then search for soaring birds of prey like hawks and eagles. During the duration of the hike, we will be talking about the historical significance that birds of prey have to our country and how the Bald Eagle became our national symbol.

I will have 8 small binoculars and 4 small monoculars to lend out to guests for the duration of the hike, but it is highly recommended that visitors bring their own if they have them.

It is required that guests have on close-toed shoes and bring water with them during the hike. Sunscreen is highly recommended.

There will not be restrooms nearby, so it is recommended that everyone visits a restroom prior to the hike. The hike will last roughly an hour. People are free to come and go as they please as long as anyone who is younger than 18 years of age is always supervised by someone 18 years of age or older, who is a part of their party.

All ages are welcome. The hike is ADA friendly. Dogs are allowed as long as they are on a leash and poop is picked up.

The hike may be cancelled if inclement weather is present. What time the hike is cancelled is tentative based off of my discretion but will be announced no later than 9AM on July 4th.

We hope y'all come to join us on this hike!
