Ride with a Ranger on the New Property
Sat, August 22, 2026
Join Ranger Gary for a bike ride on the new property and receive tips & techniques along the way!
Gear up for a trail ride with an experienced mountain biker! This activity will take place on Lockhart State Park’s new land. This new area is not yet open to the public, but visitors are welcome to see it via guided events accompanied by State Park staff. This area does not have any official trails yet, so the terrain is rough, uneven, and contains a potential for flat tires due to thorns. Bringing tire sealant and/or a spare tube is recommended. This is a "no drop" ride, which means we will ride at the pace of the slowest rider and stick together as a group. We will stop from time to time to discuss how to negotiate various sections of the trail and to catch our breath as necessary. Registration not required, but please read the prerequisites below.
Requirements:
- Participants must have a bike and biking experience.
- Participants must be at least 8 years of age.
- Participants under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a participating adult.
- Participants must sign a liability waiver.
Prepare: Dress for being active outside (layers and sturdy shoes recommended) and bring water. Bringing tire sealant and/or a spare tube is also recommended.
Meet: In the overflow parking lot. If driving from park HQ, pass the pool and take your first left-hand turn. Look for the brown “overflow parking area” sign.
Fees: This class is free with entry into the park. Regular park entrance fees are $3/adult, free for children 12 & under.
