Birding Hike
Sat, March 29, 2025
Join the park interpreter for an early-morning birdwatching hike!
As spring approaches East Texas, birds everywhere prepare for their annual migration to their breeding grounds. Come to Mission Tejas and see who's getting ready to head back north and who's making an early arrival!
Bring binoculars and field guides (Park interpreter can provide a limited number of each if you don't have it, just call and ask!) and keep your eyes and ears open for the park's feathered friends passing through on their long migrations as well as our year-round residents preparing for nesting season! Don't forget your water and bug spray.
We will start with a walk around the Headquarters and then journey a short distance (up to a half mile) down Steep Ravine Trail; this will be an easy hike with not much physical exertion.
We will meet at the park visitor center around 8:00 AM for our hike. Restrooms will be available before and after the hike.
Birdwatching hikes will be offered March 8, March 29 and April 5.
Cost is regular admission into the park: $3/person. Children 12 and under get in for free, as well as carriers of a valid Texas State Parks Pass.
