Stargazing by the Shore
Sat, June 21, 2025
Adventure away from a well-lit world and explore our cosmos through the dark skies of Mustang Island!
Spend an hour stargazing with a ranger and astronomy volunteers, and discover the importance of preserving the darkness of our night skies!
Prepare: Our astronomy programs are weather and cloud cover dependent. Brief updates and event cancellations will be posted here for the upcoming event. The program is held in our day use parking area, and if you decide to stargaze on the shore then a flashlight and closed-toe/water shoes are recommended for safety.
Bring: Folding chairs, clothing layers for cooler evenings, red light flashlights or headlamps only while in program area (white light sources hinder night vision!).
Meet: Arrive early for parking in our Day Use parking lot. Program will begin at 9:30PM. Please use self-pay station at the park headquarters parking lot before or after the program.
Fees: Regular park entrance fees ($7 per adult, children 12 & under are free). Reserve your park entrance pass and overnight camping in advance. No charge for this program or reservations required to attend.
Please email the Event Contact for information and guidance on bringing your own telescope for the program.
