Sunset Reading with a Ranger

Watch the sun set while listening to a ranger read "Mae Among the Stars" by Roda Ahmed

As the sun sets and the sky turns orange around Tucker Lake, listen to a ranger read two books about the stars and astronauts! Afterwards, join us for our Star Party at the Main Trailhead to look at stars through telescopes with The Fort Worth Astronomical Society.

Book 1: Mae Among the Stars by Roda Ahmed tells a true story about the power of words on young Mae Jemison before she became the first African American woman in space.

Book 2: Zoo in the Sky by Jacqueline Mitton explores the creatures hidden in our constellations, and several that you'll be able to see on the same night!

Time: 8:30pm - 9:00pm (sun will set approximately at 8:27pm)

Pro tip: This program is free with park entry, but sometimes we fill up on weekends. Making a day-use reservation online beforehand will guarantee entry into the park!
