Discover the birds of Palo Pinto Mountains State Park on this Ranger-guided hike!

Painted Buntings. Northern Cardinals. Golden-Cheeked Warblers. Belted King Fishers. Bald Eagles. Great Blue Herons. And many more!!

Join a ranger on this trek down to Russell Creek and back to see how many feathered friends you can find by sight and sound. Learn the basics of identifying birds and bird watching etiquette.

Participation in this program requires day pass permit from a day-use reservation or overnight reservation. If you have not already done so, secure your permit and make a reservation now.

After making your reservation, be sure to register for this program.

Time: 10am - 12pm (time may vary based on pace of group)

Date: Sunday, March 1

Meet: Main Trailhead

Distance: 2-miles on Tucker Lake Trail, from Main Trailhead to Russell Creek crossing and back. You can find these on our Trail Map.

Bring: Water, good shoes, binoculars, phone or camera for pictures, and our Bird Check List.
