Join our park ranger in viewing local and migrating birds!

April 22nd – Birding with a Ranger – 9am-11am

Join our park ranger in viewing local and migrating birds! As a new State Park, it is important that we begin logging bird sightings and specific species. No experience necessary, we welcome anyone that is interested in seeing birds and learning how to identify them.

Meet: at the entrance gate where a ranger will provide access and show you where to park.

Bring: WATER! Potable water is not available at this park yet. You must bring your own for this hike, recommended 1 liter for each hour of activity. Also bring hiking boots, a hat, sunscreen, snacks and weather appropriate clothing

  1. After a brief birding lesson and binocular practice, the hike will be about 2 miles unless we feel like adding some more!
  2. Email us if you'd like to reserve a pair of binoculars while you are birding.
  3. To guarantee entrance to the park, you must sign up ONLINE. No fees required for this event or to enter the park. Limited space available.
  4. Download apps ahead of time to help you identify and log your findings. We like to use eBird, Merlin, iNaturalist, and Seek for our citizen science goals!
