The geology of Pedernales Falls
Geology is a science that gives us stories from the past, and helps us predict what the future may look like! Join Ranger Steve as we explore not only the recent past, and how Pedernales Falls has formed, but also the ancient past, with creatures that lived here 300 million years ago!
Meet at the Main Falls Overlook to join (300 yards from parking lot).
Schedule: 30-minute history and fossil demonstration, followed by 30-minute hike down to the last rock layer at the Falls! After the hike you'll be free to explore the falls on your own.
Wear comfortable hiking clothing for the weather! The optional hike will be about 1/2 mile through some rough terrain.
