Learn how to navigate the stars!

*Weather Permitting

The night sky is a beautiful wonder! Full of constellations, planets, and galactic phenomenon!

We'll discuss best practices for using telescopes, how to navigate the stars, and where to look during different seasons! Feel free to bring your own equipment. (telescopes, binoculars, cameras, etc) Please arrive prior to 8pm if you need to set anything up.

  • Astronomy 101 lasts about 45 mins to 1 hour. (No college credit awarded for attending!) Afterward we will stargaze with various types of equipment.
  • Park at the Equestrian area trailhead and follow the red lights on a 200 ft level, gravel path to the Star Theater.
  • Dress for the weather. Stone benches available for seats, bring blankets to make them easier to sit on. The sun sets around 5:33pm that night so we'll have a little light to start with.

  • Please check weather and this page before leaving for the event, weather can sneak up at the last minute. Final go/no go decision will be at 2pm the day before the event.
  • Bring flashlights but please don't use them once the program has begun. Red lights are permitted for limited use.
  • Child friendly. Dogs are NOT allowed in the viewing area during this program. Dogs are allowed in the parking lot on a leash.
  • Normal entrance fees (day pass) required to enter park. No additional fees or registration required to attend this event.
