Lunar Eclipse Party at Pedernales Falls State Park. August 27th from 10pm-11pm

Join us Thursday August 27th to witness the Moon passing through Earth's shadow, turning it a dark reddish color!

While you can probably see this event from your backyard, we are offering an evening presentation complete with several telescopes, stories about the moon, and updates on our current space program!

  • Google Map
  • Park Closes the Front Gate at 10pm! If you want to attend this event be sure to enter BEFORE 10pm or RSVP to Stephen.Garmon@TPWD.Texas.gov
    • Phone calls/emails will not be answered after the event has begun.
  • Meet at the Star Theater, where there are stone benches to sit or lay down on. From the parking area, it is a 200ft walk along a level gravel path.
  • This event is weather dependent. We will make a final go/no-go decision on Tuesday August 25th. We will choose an alternate location if the parking area is too muddy, but rain will cancel the event.
  • Presentation lasts about 45 minutes and ends in open stargazing as the eclipse reaches it's peak.
  • Bring your own blankets/chairs to watch the eclipse! Stone seats are available for use as well.
  • Buy your day pass at home! Go to our Website to purchase (with credit card). Exact change required if arriving after the office closes.
  • Bring flashlights but please don't use them once the program and stargazing has begun. Red lights are permitted for limited use. The longer you let your eyes adjust the more stars you will see!
  • Child and dog friendly. Dogs must remain on a leash at all times. Please no noisy or aggressive dogs. Please keep dogs away from the telescopes.
