Join us in conducting a wildlife survey at a brand new State Park!
April 2nd – Wildlife Survey Hike – 10am – 1pm
Join our ranger in hiking a new State Park and surveying wildlife emerging for spring!
Post Oak Ridge State Park has a wide variety of plants and habitats and we want to learn all we can! We'll be looking for any wildlife we can see, hear, or touch. Flowers, birds, bugs, and reptiles will be our main focus, but who knows what we might find!
Meet: at the entrance gate where a ranger will provide access and show you where to park.
Bring: WATER! Potable water is not available at this park yet. You must bring your own for this hike, recommended 1 liter for each hour of activity. Also bring hiking boots, a hat, sunscreen, snacks and weather appropriate clothing
- Download an app like "Seek" to help you identify plants along the hike, "Merlin" to help you identify bird calls, and iNaturalist to help us post what we find along the way for researchers to use!
- This hike is about 4 miles long with some rocky terrain, elevation change, and thick grass and plantlife.
- There are limited bathrooms here but no drinking water.
- Child and Dog friendly.
- This program and admission to the park are free.
- Register ONLINE for this hike. Limited spots are available.
