First Day Paddle

Oar you ready to start the new year off right? Join us for a First Day Paddle of the salt marsh!

Boating is all about going with the flow, and we should, too! Join park rangers on a 1.8-mile (round trip) guided paddle of the salt marsh!

Hit the water with us from 9 am -11:00 am to kick off the new year by paddling the salt marsh!

Limited spots available. Registration is required, and you can do it online! Registered participants will be contacted via email, so please check all messages and respond promptly. 

Maximum four spots per reservation. 

Before you can join us:

• Guided trips are free; we do require you to purchase a $4 day pass. You can do that online or at the HQ located at the Beach Unit, or bring cash to use the Self Pay Station in the Marsh Unit
• All children must be accompanied by an adult, and the program is for ages 13 and older.
• Close-toed shoes and life jackets must be worn during the trip.

What to expect:

• Prepared for physical, outside, water-based activity. (Suggested weight limit for kayaks = 650 lbs.)
• Free safety and paddling lesson
• Free gear use (canoe/kayak, paddle(s), and life jackets) or bring your own!
• Small group guide (<18 people)
• 1.5-hour paddling trip on the Easy Paddling trail to Fence Lake and back
• Anything that goes out on the tour may get wet, muddy, salty, or completely submerged

Meet: Airboat Rd, Sabine Pass, TX 77655 -- Meet at the boat ramp at the Marsh unit

Cost: Entry fee is $4 for adults and FREE for children 12 & under. Park entry is free with a State Parks Pass
