Night Hike!
Sat, June 27, 2026
Join park rangers for a hike to discover what happens after dark at South Llano!
Come learn about the creatures that call the park their home! We will cover adaptations, nocturnal activity, night sky viewing, and how to identify wildlife species after sundown. South Llano River State Park is a DarkSky park renown for star gazing and observing celestial objects, making it an ideal place for nighttime exploring.
We will meet at the Bald Eagle Amphitheatre in the camping loop. Please bring water, sturdy hiking shoes and a red flashlight is recommended. The hike will be approximately 1.5 miles on Buck Lake Trail.
Water refill stations and restrooms are available in the camping loop facilities.
Cost: Free with park admission purchase! Park admission is free for Texas State Parks Pass holders. On busy weekends, reserve your day use pass early online! Please note: Be sure you have a day pass purchased for everyone attending.
If you wish to stay at this program or in the park past 10pm, please purchase a nighttime park pass. The cost is $5.00
