Nighttime Critter Crawl

7:15p to 9:15p
Sat, September 13, 2025
Cheyenne Mack
(325) 215-6248

Lace up your hiking boots for an evening hike with SLRSP Rangers to explore the critters that come out when the sun goes down!

The night is when we sleep, but there is a world of creatures that are just waking up! Meet us at the Bald Eagle Amphitheater to learn why and how certain animals are awake during the night and then join us for a short hike to hopefully catch a glimpse of some of these sneaky critters!

Please only bring light sources with a red, green, black, or UV setting.

Hike Information: We will be walking about 1.5 miles at night. There is one steep area, but it is a very short distance (30 steps). The hike will take 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on what cool things we see!

Where: Meet at Bald Eagle Amphitheater, then hike a 1.5 mile loop by Acorn Blind, Buck Lake, and the River Trail.

Bring: water, snacks, hiking boots/shoes, comfortable clothes, bug spray, and a flashlight with a red, green, black, or UV light setting.

Cost: Free with park admission, and park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass. On busy weekends, reserve your day use pass early online! Please note: Be sure you have a day pass purchased for everyone attending.

Don't forget to follow us on Instagram and Facebook for all the latest information about park events!

All events subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.
