Join us to learn more about the bird Benjamin Franklin hoped would be the national bird - the Wild Turkey!

South Llano River State Park is home to one of the largest turkey roosts in Central Texas. The Rio Grande Wild Turkey is an important biological feature of the park and depends on the park for habitat and survival.

Join a park ranger to learn more about the bird that Benjamin Franklin hoped to be the national bird as you celebrate Fourth of July weekend! As we learn, we will enjoy viewing their habitat with a short hike along the Interpretive Trail, followed by a fun turkey themed game at the Day Use Parking Lot!

Meet: Interpretive Trail

Length: We will walk about .5 miles to the day-use parking lot where we will play a game to learn more about Wild Turkey

What to Bring: Water, closed-toe shoes

Cost: Free with park admission, and park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass. On busy weekends, reserve your day use pass early online! Please note: Be sure you have a day pass purchased for everyone attending.
