Prescribed Fire Workshop

This workshop is designed to give landowners and managers a basic understanding of the use and application of prescribed fire to manage habitat for wildlife and forage for livestock.

Wildlife and livestock benefit from prescribed fire as it stimulates new plant growth and enhances wildlife habitat. Game and nongame wildlife require healthy, diverse plant communities for both food and cover. Prescribed fire also reduces woody plant encroachment and is beneficial for many native plant species in a way mechanical and chemical management treatments cannot duplicate.

The workshop is free for participants and topics include:

The M.O. Neasloney Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is located approximately 2 miles north of Belmont, between Luling and Belmont, in Gonzales County.
