Magers, a professional woman angler, spearheaded efforts to involve women and children in fishing. Magers hosted two family-oriented outdoor television series and served as national spokesperson for the Women's Sportfishing Foundation. She was instrumental in convincing B.A.S.S. to develop a national professional bass fishing tournament circuit for women.
