Hunts by Phone Reservation
Public Hunting in Texas 2018-19

Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis and must be made through the Wildlife Management Area (WMA) field office personnel; voice mail messages will not be accepted. Interested parties must reserve a hunt position by contacting the area manager before being allowed access to the WMA for hunting.

Cost: a $48 Annual Public Hunting Permit is required to take part in a Hunt by Phone Reservation.

Black Gap WMA

Predator Hunt

  • Dates: January 11 to 13 and 25 to 27, 2019

  • Hunt Positions Available: reservations will be accepted for 6 groups of up to 2 hunters for each hunt period.

  • Bag Limit: unlimited coyotes and bobcats (no other predators may be harvested).

Reservation Information

  • Hunting parties will meet at the WMA Headquarters (details are provided at the time of registration).

  • To Make a Reservation: call the Black Gap WMA office at 432-376-2216 on January 1, 2019 only beginning at 9 am. The WMA office will make reservations until all positions are filled.

Gus Engeling

APH Mentored Squirrel Hunt — Youth/Adult Only

  • Dates: February 2 to 3, 2019

  • Hunt Positions Available: reservations will be accepted for 10 groups of up to 3 hunters per group.

  • Bag Limit: county bag and possession limits apply. A mandatory workshop on the basics of woodsmanship and squirrel hunting will be required to attend this hunt.

Reservation Information

  • Hunters will be accompanied by TPWD staff at all times during the hunt.

  • To Make a Reservation: reservations must be made by calling the Gus Engeling WMA office at 903-928-2251 on January 3, 2019 only between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm.
