A key to successful habitat monitoring and management is coordination and collaboration between workgroups across the state. For that reason, the TPWD Habitat Assessment Team organized the formation of the Texas Coastal Habitat Mapping Workgroup. This group allows mappers to share information on current and upcoming mapping projects in Texas, and provides the opportunity to leverage mapping efforts between groups. The summary of the first meeting (including the “who, what, when, where, and why” of habitat mappers in Texas) is provided in the link below. For questions, or to be added to the group, please email Emma Clarkson.
The Habitat Assessment Team is also involved in the Gulf of Mexico Alliance as a Texas representative on the Habitat Resources and Data and Monitoring Priority Issue Teams, as well as with the Southeast Aquatic Resources Partnership Coastal Workgroup. By participating in these regional workgroups, we ensure that Texas' habitat mapping efforts can be represented across the Gulf of Mexico.
