Texas Hunting, Fishing Licenses on Sale Aug. 15

AUSTIN – Fall is upon us and for hunters and anglers that can only mean one thing, it is time to renew hunting and fishing licenses. Before taking the boat out or hitting the field, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) reminds hunters and anglers to purchase their new licenses for the 2025-26 season.

Expanded Digital License, Tag Options for Recreational Hunting, Fishing on Sale Aug. 15

AUSTIN – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will offer fully digital options for all recreational hunting, fishing and combo license and tag types when 2025-26 licenses go on sale Aug. 15th. In March, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission approved the expansion of digital license and tag options.

TFFC Temporarily Closed for Public Visitation

ATHENS – The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFFC) has temporarily closed to visitors while Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) completes emergency repairs to a steel column that structurally supports the main visitor center building.

TPWD Receives 115 Oyster Buyback License Applications

AUSTIN — Of 545 available oyster licenses, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) received 115 commercial oyster boat license offers in round nine of its Oyster License Buyback Program, which, if all applicants participate, would represent a reduction by 21 percent of total oyster licenses in the state.

El Día de Pesca Gratis en Texas programado para el 7 de junio

AUSTIN – La tradición anual de Texas del Día de Pesca Gratis está de regreso este sábado, 7 de junio, en las vías fluviales públicas de todo el estado. Cada año, el primer sábado de junio, los texanos y los visitantes de fuera del estado pueden pescar en cualquier cuerpo de agua público en el estado sin necesidad de tener un permiso para pesca.

Free Fishing Day in Texas Slated for June 7

AUSTIN – The annual Texas tradition of Free Fishing Day is back this Saturday, June 7, at public waterways across the state. Each year on the first Saturday in June, Texans and out-of-state visitors can fish on any public waterway in the state without a fishing license.
