ATHENS – The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFFC) has opened the Texas division of Wildlife Forever’s 2027 Fish Art Contest for entries. The Texas division of the contest will celebrate 20 years in 2027 thanks to the vision of Mr. Richard M. (Dick) Hart, a conservation leader who helped bring the program to the state. Mr. Hart was a successful business and family man with a passion for fishing, conservation, and TFFC.
AUSTIN – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) invites Texans to bring their friends and family into the outdoors for National Hunting and Fishing Day on Sept. 26. This celebration recognizes hunters and anglers for their contributions to wildlife and conservation.

ATHENS — The Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame committee is accepting nominations for next year’s induction. Nominees can be either individuals or organizations who’ve made important contributions to fishing in Texas. Applications will be accepted through Nov. 1.

ATHENS – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Toyota ShareLunker Program has selected fishing guide Brady Stanford of Millersville as the 2025 American Fishing Tackle Company (AFTCO) Guide of the Year. The Toyota ShareLunker Program has partnered with AFTCO since 2025 to annually recognize a fishing guide who best contributes to conservation and the enhancement of largemouth bass fisheries in Texas.
