AUSTIN, Texas — There may not be “fire on the mountain” in the Trans Pecos this winter, but there will be two firefighters there anyway. Instead of fighting fires and smoke and rescuing folks, they’ll be hunting desert bighorn sheep after being selected for a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department hunt giveaway in a random computer drawing among licensed hunters in Texas.
AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department would like to remind landowners that a hunting lease license is required for certain hunting operations. The owner of a hunting lease or the landowner’s agent may not receive pay or anything of value from hunters unless the owner or agent has acquired a hunting lease license from the department. This law applies to all hunting leases.
SAN ANTONIO — For more than 13 years, the Texas Big Game Awards (TBGA), a partnership of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and the Texas Wildlife Association (TWA), have recognized the contributions that landowners, land managers and responsible hunters make to managing and conserving wildlife and wildlife habitat on Texas’ private lands.

AUSTIN, Texas — Passing the hunting tradition through the generations and providing opportunities for young hunters this fall are the goals of special youth-only seasons. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department sets aside the special seasons for white-tailed deer, Rio Grande turkey and waterfowl on October 30-31, before the general hunting seasons, to encourage adults to share the hunting experience with the next generation of hunters.
AUSTIN, Texas – With more than 83 million acres of available deer range, there is plenty of opportunity for Texas white-tailed deer to roam. And with so much of that country in ideal condition, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department biologists suggest hunters may have to cover more ground than they are accustomed to in order to be successful this fall.
AUSTIN, Texas – Despite offering 4,400 hunter education courses throughout the year, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department understands there are some who will still wait until the last minute before hunting season to get certified. This fall, those procrastinators need not panic.
MARATHON, Texas — Texas hunters are reminded that anyone who buys any type of current season resident hunting license by midnight Oct. 17 will automatically be entered into a drawing for one of two Texas bighorn sheep hunts.
AUSTIN, Texas — If access to a good place to hunt is the only thing keeping you from experiencing what wildlife biologists suggest will be the best quail hunting season in years, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has some excellent opportunities for hunters.
