AUSTIN – Wildlife officials are reminding mule deer hunters and landowners in far West Texas about the protocols developed as part of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Chronic Wasting Disease management plan. The plan includes mandatory check stations for harvested mule deer taken inside the CWD Containment Zone, which covers portions of Hudspeth, Culberson, and El Paso counties. AUSTIN – Texas hunting and fishing licenses cannot be purchased between 9 p.m. (CDT) Saturday, October 19 and 9 a.m. Sunday, October 20. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department licensing system will be down for maintenance.
TEAGUE — Texas game wardens, with assistance from local and state officers, have arrested a suspect in the injury of two game wardens following a pursuit early Saturday. The arrest was made about two miles southeast of Teague in Freestone County at 3:15 p.m. today.

AUSTIN — A new experimental hunting season in parts of the Texas Panhandle Sept. 28-Oct. 6 will allow landowners to control harvest of buck pronghorn on their properties. The experimental season will be in herd units 8, 17, and 25, which include portions of Dallam, Hartley, Sherman, Moore, Roberts, and Gray counties.
