AUSTIN— The temperature is finally cooling off, so it’s time to go outside! Fall is the ideal season for warming up by a campfire, telling stories and making s’mores, and Texas State Parks have family-friendly events and programs for all to enjoy.
AUSTIN— The Centennial Time Capsule, which encompasses 100 years of Texas State Parks history, is once again on the move and enroute to its winter home at Davis Mountains State Park as part of its 50-year trek to every state park across the Lone Star State. The time capsule, which houses one object from every state park and support program, went on display at Blanco State Park in April of this year.
ATHENS – The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFFC) will reopen Oct. 8 following the completion of emergency repairs to a steel structural support column in the main visitor center building. The visitor center has remained closed since emergency repairs began in early August.
AUSTIN – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Community Archery Program is partnering with Inks Lake State Park in Burnet and numerous partners Oct. 11 to help the public “Explore Bowhunting”.
ATHENS — The Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame committee is accepting nominations for next year’s induction into the hall of fame. Nominees can be either individuals or organizations who’ve made important contributions to fishing in Texas. Applications will be accepted through Nov. 1.
AUSTIN – With Labor Day weekend marking the unofficial end of summer, Texas Game Wardens will patrol waterways across the state to enforce laws and regulations while doing all they can to keep the public safe on and around the water.
AUSTIN— Soon Texans will have a new spot in the Hill Country to explore thanks to the latest Texas State Park land acquisition in Uvalde County. Bear Creek State Park is 1,720-acres and located less than a mile from Garner State Park, one of the most popular sites in the state.
