ATHENS – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is pleased to announce the 2026 winners of the Texas division of the Wildlife Forever’s Fish Art Contest. The contest is housed and administered by TPWD’s Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFFC) in Athens.

ATHENS – In the final hours of the 2026 Toyota ShareLunker program collection season Tuesday evening (March 31), O.H. Ivie reservoir delivered a buzzer beater with its fifth Legacy Class largemouth bass of the season. The fish broke a tie with J.B. Thomas for the most Legacy Class ShareLunker entries in 2026 and clinched the top spot for O.H. Ivie in the waterbody standings for the sixth consecutive year.

Texas General Land Office Awards TPWD More Than $3 Million for Coastal Restoration Projects

AUSTIN- The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has recently been awarded more than $3 million by the Texas General Land Office (GLO) for coastal restoration projects along the Texas Gulf Coast. GLO awarded approximately $84.6 million to 14 coastal counties through two major coastal protection programs, including several projects on TPWD lands.

Angler Reels in Two Legacy Class ShareLunkers at J.B. Thomas, Becoming First Angler to Catch Three Lunkers in One Season

ATHENS – J.B. Thomas Reservoir in West Texas got back on the board March 24 with not one but two Legacy Class ShareLunkers, boosting J.B. Thomas’ total to four during the 2026 Toyota ShareLunker program collection season. These Legacy Class fish also increased the overall season total to 17 and established a tie between O.H. Ivie and J.B. Thomas for the top spot in the waterbody standings at four entries each.

The Pierce Brothers, Michael Scherer to be Inducted into the Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame

ATHENS – The Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame has announced the inductees for the class of 2026 – the Pierce brothers (Clayton and late brother Jason) of Alba and Michael Scherer of Houston.
