AUSTIN — Have you always wanted to visit a state park but never been? Make plans to visit one of 89 Texas State Parks on Nov. 2! In honor of Texas State Parks Day, a tradition born from 2023’s centennial celebration, everyone can visit a state park for the day for free.

TPWD Abre Ciertas Áreas de Cosecha de Ostras a lo Largo de la Costa

TPWD Opening Certain Oyster Harvest Areas Along the Coast

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is opening several bays to commercial and recreational oyster harvest beginning 12:01 a.m. Nov. 1. Since Nov. 1 falls on a Saturday, the first legal day for commercial oyster harvest will be Monday, Nov. 3.

Waterfowl Hunters: Help Stop the Spread of Invasive Species

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) encourages waterfowl hunters to take action to protect Texas water bodies from the spread of aquatic invasive species like zebra mussels and giant salvinia that can degrade waterfowl habitats and block access.

TPWD to Host Public Scoping Meeting on Fisheries Management Efforts in Kerr County Following July Floods

HUNT – On Oct. 27, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Inland Fisheries Division will host a public meeting at the Kerr Wildlife Management Area to discuss impacts of the July floods on fisheries resources in Kerr County, present fisheries management plans for the Guadalupe River and local community fishing lakes to support flood recovery and invite public input.

Quail Surveys Raise Expectations for Another Quality Hunting Season

AUSTIN – Quail hunting season kicks off on Nov. 1 in Texas, and the annual Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) roadside survey revealed some encouraging population numbers heading into opening day. Good habitat conditions along with timely rainfall helped bobwhite and scaled quail production this last spring and summer.
