Beloved El Paso landmark is one step closer to reopening

EL PASO — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation (TPWF) will host a press conference at Franklin Mountains State Park to announce new developments in the effort to rebuild and reopen the Wyler Aerial Tramway.

Thanks to the leadership of El Paso’s legislative delegation and $27 million in state funding, construction is now underway on long-awaited improvements at the tramway site. The Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority (RMA) is partnering with TPWD on Phase 1 of the project, which includes expanded parking, accessible facilities, and visitor amenities. TPWF is launching a private fundraising campaign to complete the next phase of work that will bring a brand-new tramway system and visitor center to life—ensuring this iconic landmark once again connects people to the beauty of the Franklin Mountains and beyond.
