Entre los asistentes estuvieron El Gobernador Greg Abbott, La Secretaria de Estado Jane Nelson, El Director ejecutivo del Departamento de Parques y Vida Silvestre de Texas (TPWD), David Yoskowitz; El Presidente Emérito de la Comisión de Parques y Vida Silvestre de Texas, Lee Bass; El Presidente de la Fundación de Parques y Vida Silvestre de Texas, Michael S. Palo Pinto Mountains State Park Celebrates Grand Opening with Ribbon Cutting, Special Guests

AUSTIN — Palo Pinto Mountains State Park officially marked its grand opening April 10 with a special ribbon cutting event. Governor Greg Abbott, Secretary of State Jane Nelson, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Executive Director David Yoskowitz, Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission Chairman Emeritus Lee Bass, Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation Chairman Michael S. Greene, and Texas State Parks Director Rodney Franklin were in attendance and spoke.

O.H. Ivie Closes Out ShareLunker Collection Season in Style

ATHENS – In the final hours of the 2026 Toyota ShareLunker program collection season Tuesday evening (March 31), O.H. Ivie reservoir delivered a buzzer beater with its fifth Legacy Class largemouth bass of the season. The fish broke a tie with J.B. Thomas for the most Legacy Class ShareLunker entries in 2026 and clinched the top spot for O.H. Ivie in the waterbody standings for the sixth consecutive year.

Centennial Time Capsule Moves to Palo Duro Canyon State Park

AUSTIN — The Centennial Time Capsule, which encompasses 100 years of Texas State Parks history, is on the move once again, as it roams the Lone Star State for 50 years on a quest to visit every park. This time, it is moving to Palo Duro Canyon State Park after its recent stop over the winter at Davis Mountains State Park.

Texas General Land Office Awards TPWD More Than $3 Million for Coastal Restoration Projects

AUSTIN- The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has recently been awarded more than $3 million by the Texas General Land Office (GLO) for coastal restoration projects along the Texas Gulf Coast. GLO awarded approximately $84.6 million to 14 coastal counties through two major coastal protection programs, including several projects on TPWD lands.

Angler Reels in Two Legacy Class ShareLunkers at J.B. Thomas, Becoming First Angler to Catch Three Lunkers in One Season

ATHENS – J.B. Thomas Reservoir in West Texas got back on the board March 24 with not one but two Legacy Class ShareLunkers, boosting J.B. Thomas’ total to four during the 2026 Toyota ShareLunker program collection season. These Legacy Class fish also increased the overall season total to 17 and established a tie between O.H. Ivie and J.B. Thomas for the top spot in the waterbody standings at four entries each.

AUSTIN — Several Texas State Parks Police Officers received awards from the Park Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) and were recognized at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission Meeting on Thursday.

AUSTIN— Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has launched the nation’s first all-digital State Wildlife Action Plan (SWAP). The SWAP is Texas’ statewide conservation roadmap for Species of Greatest Conservation Need and their habitats.
