Choosing Between Paper and Digital Licenses
In addition to paper licenses, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department offers fully digital options for all recreational hunting, fishing and combo license and tag types. Hunters and anglers can choose between paper or digital options.
Where to Purchase
- Paper licenses can be purchased at a license retailer or online.
- Digital licenses must be purchased online.
Paper License Requirements
- Customers can purchase paper licenses and tags at a license retailer or online.
- Harvested animals must be tagged with the provided paper license tags.
- Paper license holders cannot execute digital tags in the Texas Hunt & Fish app.
- Mandatory harvest reporting may apply but does not replace use of paper tags.
- Paper licenses can also be purchased online and will be mailed to customers.
- Paper license holders may show an electronic copy of their license but must possess and apply physical tags for animals that require tagging.
Digital License and Tagging Requirements
- Customers must purchase digital licenses online.
- Licenses can be viewed and tags executed on the "Texas Hunt & Fish" app.
- Paper licenses and tags will not be provided to the customer.
- Once purchased, any additional recreational licenses for the current year must be acquired online.
