GRIT Freedom Chair

The GRIT Freedom Chair is an all-terrain wheelchair designed to help you experience trails, fields, beaches and more. You can operate it independently using lever drives or with a friend using push handles.

Where to Find GRIT Freedom Chairs

More than 25 Texas State Parks offer the GRIT Freedom Chair. Most parks provide the 18-inch seat width model with:

  • Anti-tip bars for extra stability 
  • Push handles to allow companions to assist safely 

Key Feature

Built for adventure 

  • Large 26-inch rear mountain bike tires and 9-inch front wheel navigate trails, sand, gravel and grass. 
  • Durable zinc-plated, powder-coated steel frame stands up to rugged outdoor use. 

Move your way 

  • Self-propel: Push and pull lever drives to move yourself along trails or remove the levers and propel using the wheels like a traditional wheelchair. 
  • Assisted push: Companions can use rear handles to help you move and navigate tricky spots. 

Comfort First 

  • Some parks offer straps and pillows but you may bring personal cushions, straps, rolled-up blankets or adaptive supports for extra comfort.
