Danny Swepston – Obituary and Assessment Call

Danny Allen Swepston, 68, of Canyon, TX, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, in Amarillo. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death. Burial was at the Dreamland Cemetery.

Danny was born Feb. 17, 1948, to Herschel and Hazel Swepston. He attended Floydada High School before going to Tarleton State University, where he would marry Judy Wilson on Jan. 31, 1970. Two years later, he graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in wildlife sciences.

Danny’s career with Texas Parks & Wildlife spanned more than 37 years and in several cities, starting with Nacogdoches, Austin, Alpine and then to Canyon. Danny thoroughly enjoyed his job all the way to the end. Even while in retirement, he would spend time volunteering.

Danny and Judy’s love gave them three beautiful children: Wade, born June 28, 1971; Jason, born Jan. 1, 1974; and Julie, born March 8, 1976.

He was preceded in death by his son Jason in 1974. Survivors include his wife Judy; his children Wade and Julie; Wade’s wife Kerrie; four grandchildren, Joseph, Josh, Jayson and Eryn; two grand dogs, Minnie and Millie; and two sisters-in-law, Mary McEvers and husband Karl, and Paula Owen and husband Mike.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Mutual Association (TPW Mutual Association) regrets to inform you of the death of one of our members, Danny Swepston.

Danny became a member of the TPW Mutual Association on April 4, 1983. He retained his membership up until his death on September 26, 2016. A check in the amount of $4,980 was delivered to Mrs. Judy Swepston on September 28, 2016.

An assessment in the amount of $20.00 will be necessary to bring the policy fund back into balance to have payments on hand for other members in case of death. Please make this payment by the due date listed above.
