James M. Havel – Obituary and Assessment Call

James M. "Jim" Havel, age 67 of Hunt, passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 in a Kerrville hospital. He was born August 3, 1944 in West, TX to Adolf and Dorothy Havel.

Jim was a retired Game Warden and an Air Force Veteran. He was affiliated with Hunt United Methodist Church.

Jim was one who never met a stranger. He loved to joke, to hunt and fish, collect coins, and also loved anything outside.

Survivors include wife, Linda Havel of Hunt; daughters, Kacy Lavender and husband, Jason of Austin and Shyla Havel of Hunt; son, Guy Havel and wife, Kassy of Giddings; sister, Carol Hernandez and husband, Ruben of Round Rock; brother, Ed Havel and wife, Linda of West; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

His grandkids lovingly referred to him as "Grandpa Jim."

Memorials may be made to the Game Warden Association.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Mutual Association (TPWD Mutual Association) regrets to inform you of the death of another of our members, James Martin “Jim” Havel.

Jim became a member of the TPWD Mutual Association on April 13, 1972. He retained his membership up until his death on February 20, 2012. Jim graduated from the 24th Texas Game Warden Training Academy at Texas A&M on February 10, 1970. He served in San Saba and Calhoun counties. He retired on August 31, 1998..

A check in the amount of $5,025 will be delivered to Mrs. Jim Havel as soon as possible. An assessment in the amount of $16.00 will be necessary to bring the policy fund back into balance to have payments on hand for two members in case of death. Please make this payment by March 26, 2012.
