Bug Eats Bug - Master Naturalist Guided Hike

Join a Texas Master Naturalist to find out how it's a bug-eat-bug world out there! Explore the world of tiny predators and tiny prey; how they see and how they slay!

Join a Lost Pines Texas Master Naturalist, on this fun one mile guided hike and explore the insect battles we almost never notice! Learn about the spooky but fascinating small-scale world where various insects fight for survival! Did you know there's a lion that loves to live and hunt in our sandy soils? Or that dragon flies are true predators in their larva stage? If you were insect sized, could you survive? Find out all about how it's a bug-eat-bug world out there!  

 

Where: Meet at the Scenic Overlook parking area.
Find hike leader Benjamin wearing a Master Naturalist name tag either near a picnic table or near the large Trails Map Sign at the Scenic Overlook. 

There is no bathroom or water faucet at the Scenic Overlook. Please use the restroom and fill up water bottles at bathrooms located at the park playground or camp loops before driving up to the scenic overlook for the guided hike. 

When: 10am to 11:30am
Distance: 1 to 1.5 miles
Difficulty: Easy to moderate, uneven terrain and some elevation changes
Bring: bottled water, wear closed toe shoes, magnifying glass if you have one, and your curiosity about the small world of bugs!

Program is free after park entrance fee is paid. $5 per adult 13 and older. Children 12 and under get in free! Texas State Park pass holders do not pay day use fees.
