Nachos for Nacho

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Tex-Mex! Learn how the blending of cultures around the Texas-Mexico border created a delicious new category of food and learn the link between nachos and Cinco de Mayo.

This Cinco de Mayo, raise a nacho in celebration of the unique culture we get to be part of in South Texas! South Texas has experienced a complex mixing of cultures that has created a unique brand of food we call Tex-Mex. Texans are serious about their Tex-Mex, but most of us don't give any thought to how our favorite foods became staples of Mexican restaurant menus.

Taking a look at some popular Tex-Mex dishes, we'll explore how these foods have linked the people on either side of the Rio Grande, including the link between Cinco de Mayo and nachos!

Program takes place in the mission workshop building on the mission grounds.

Program is free with park entrance- $4 per person, free for kids 12 years old and under.
