Bird Walk

Join members of the Government Canyon Activities Committee on a hike to see birds that are wintering in Government Canyon SNA. Learn about the fun and excitement of bird watching; including basics on the use of binoculars and Bird Field Guides, as well as some techniques for successful bird watching in the outdoors.  BYO binoculars if you have a pair.

Participants must be at least 8 years of age and should be able to hike over rugged but beautiful trails. There may be a fair amount of elevation gain depending on the trail chosen.

Dress for the weather, and wear sturdy shoes. No pets please. Bring at least a liter of water, and a snack if you like. Group size is limited; participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Meet at the rainwater harvesting tower.

Reservations required and will be accepted through noon on November 29; sorry, no group reservations. Reserve your spot online.  Please register each person individually. For more information email reservations@friendsofgc.org.  Natural Area entrance fees apply. (Special Note: birding walks may be cancelled due to severe weather conditions - no rain dates offered.)
