Memorial Day Hike

Hike with us as we remember those military members who are no longer with us.

Feel free to carry your flags and bring pictures or memorabilia to share on this veteran-led walk. Hike distance will be approximately 8 miles covering uneven terrain with moderate elevation changes.

Open to anyone 12 years and older. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. No pets please.

Registration is NOT required for this hike. Though the hike is free, all Natural Area entrance fees apply. To save time at the Fee Booth and ensure entrance on crowded days, please pre-purchase and PRINT OUT a Day Pass. Please note: reserving a Day Pass does not guarantee a spot for you on the hike! The hike is limited to the first 15 participants to check-in with the hike leader.

Meet at the Rainwater Harvesting Tower beside the Visitor Center. Open to the first 15 who check in at the Rainwater Harvesting Tower between 7:30 and 7:45 AM. The hike starts promptly at 8:00 AM.

Dress for hiking outdoors. Comfortable shoes/boots, sunscreen, bug spray and a hat recommended. Wear layers that can be added or removed as weather conditions change. Bring at least 3 liters of water per person and snacks.

If ADA assistance is required, please email accessibility@tpwd.texas.gov at least 2 weeks in advance.

This program is weather-dependent and subject to cancellation. Check conditions by calling GCSNA's main office at 210-688-9055, or go to the GCSNA webpage, Instagram, or Facebook.
