Unplug Texas Day

The 2025 Texas Legislature designated Oct. 21 as Unplug Texas Day, a day dedicated to encouraging Texans to disconnect from their electronic devices and reconnect with nature, family, and friends.

What better way to celebrate Unplug Texas Day than at your favorite state park!

Hike the Trails
Explore the park’s scenic trails, ranging from easy riverside walks to more challenging hikes through Hill Country landscapes. Instead of a camera, bring out a nature journal and capture those memories through art!

River Fun
Spend time relaxing by the Guadalupe River, enjoy a quiet moment by the water, or bring your fishing gear for some peaceful fishing. (No fishing license required in state parks!)

Birdwatching
Grab your binoculars and keep an eye out for local and migratory species. The park is home to everything from majestic hawks to delicate songbirds.

Nature Scavenger Hunt
Pick up a scavenger hunt list at the Discovery Center or Headquarters and challenge your family to find all the unique plants, animals, and natural features that make this park special.

Wildlife Spotting
Keep your eyes open for wildlife like deer, foxes, and wild turkeys. The park’s diverse ecosystem makes it a great spot for animal sightings.

Picnic with a View
Pack a picnic and enjoy a peaceful meal with loved ones at one of our scenic picnic spots. There’s no better way to relax and soak in the day than with nature all around you.

Let’s celebrate the outdoors together! Entrance fees apply, but the experience of connecting with nature is priceless.
