Practice observing nature with all of your senses and enjoy some peaceful outdoor time at the Pond!
Meet a ranger at the Pond for a relaxing morning of journaling. Learn more about phenology, the study of natural changes between seasons, and sharpen your observation skills as you take in the world around you!
All supplies will be provided, including pencils and crayons.
Trail Info:
The hike to the Pond is rated easy and is one mile from the overflow parking lot (two miles roundtrip). The trail is rocky with some shallow water crossings and mild inclines. The trail is partially shaded, but make sure to bring sun protection. The trail is not accessible for strollers, wagons, wheelchairs, or walkers. Please have plenty of water with you for your hike (at least 32oz per person, per hour, and don’t forget your pets). There is no drinking water available on the trail.
When: September 19 at 10:30 a.m.
Where: The Pond
Bring: Lots of water, sturdy, comfortable hiking clothes and shoes, sunscreen and a hat, and bug spray if desired. Bring any other items you may want for your own comfort on our hike, such as snacks.
Cost: This program is free with admission to the park. Day passes are $6 per person 13 and older. Park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass.
