Stories in the Stars

Join us for some stargazing and learn about the stories that constellations can tell us!

Meet our ranger at the overflow parking lot for a nice night under the stars! We will be looking at the constellations we can see with our naked eye and talk about the stories and history behind them.

Please bring red flashlights or headlamps only, as regular flashlights and bright lights will reduce everyone’s night vision and make it harder to see the stars. Dress for the weather; consider bringing a jacket as it may cool off as the sun sets. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on as we stargaze.

We recommend parking at the day use parking lot and walking along the short trail from the day-use parking lot to the overflow lot. This helps keep bright lights out of our viewing area to preserve our night vision.

When: March 19 at 7:15 pm

Where: The overflow parking lot.

Bring: Red flashlights. Bring binoculars if desired. Bring water and a chair or blanket to sit on. Make sure to dress for the weather!

Cost: This program is free with admission to the park. Day passes are $6 per person over 12 years old. Park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass. If you will be arriving after headquarters has closed and have not pre-purchased your day pass, please be sure you have exact change to use the self-pay box.

Note: This program is weather dependent and may be cancelled due to the weather. If cancelled, this posting will be updated. Please check back as the date gets closer and contact park staff for weather updates and more information.
