Fish with a Park Cop

Join Officer McGarry out by the lake to discover fishing rules and regulations while trying your hand with a rod and reel.

Discover fishing basics and try your hand with a rod and reel. Officer McGarry will guide you through fishing success and share all about important fishing rules and regulations. Bring your curiosity - he'll answer other questions about being a park cop too! We’ll bring the poles and bait for this adventure, you just have to meet us there!

If you would like to keep your catch -  you will need to know how to clean it yourself, and  bring your own cooler. 

** You do not need a fishing license to attend this program**

This program is suitable for all ages. If you have a large group, please call ahead. 

When: 10am-12pm 

Where: Meet at Walnut Slough Day Use Area in the Walnut Ridge Unit.

Cost: This event is free with the purchase of a $4 day pass or a Texas State Park Pass. Children 12 and under have free entry. 

Reminder: There are no restrooms near the Day Use Area so plan accordingly.
