Black Friday Paddling Trip

Join us to explore the swampy sloughs and the dazzling open water of B.A. Steinhagen Lake.

Reservations are not currently required to attend this program.

Experience the sparkling beauty of open waters and travel into the swampy sloughs. We'll explore one of our favorite paddling trails! 

If you'd like to rent a kayak or canoe for this program please arrive at Headquarters 15-30 minutes before the program time.

When: The kayak trip starts at 9am 

Where: Walnut Slough Day-use Area

Bring: Water shoes, appropriate attire, water, sunscreen, hat. Bring a snack if needed!

Cost: Guided trips are free, entrance to the park requires a $4 day pass or a Texas State Park Pass. Boat rentals have additional cost. 

Reminder: Keep in mind that even though these are guided trips, you participate at your own risk. If your kayak tips over, you must be able to get back in by yourself. You can choose to stay with the group or peel off and do your own trip if you wish. 

Paddling trips may be cancelled in inclement weather.  

There are no restrooms at the launch site. Please plan accordingly.
