Simple Country Christmas

Join our festive holiday activities in the park!

Join us in celebrating the Christmas season with a variety of holiday themed activities.  Park entrance fees are WAIVED so everyone can enjoy these events!

Check out our event schedule:

Santa Hat Hike - 10 a.m., meet up at Island Trail for a ranger led walk.  Put on your favorite festive hat or ugly holiday sweater (or both) and take a short stroll along a park trail with a park ranger. Stretch your legs while learning about the native plants and animals that call the park home. (Weather Permitting)

Ornament Crafting - 1 p.m., join our park’s interpreter at the Education Center, where you can create holiday ornaments using natural materials. Make one to take home for your tree and make one to hang on the park’s Christmas tree.  

Campfire, Cookies and Caroling -  4p.m., gather around a campfire at the amphitheater on the Walnut Ridge Unit by the Group Hall.  Join us for the park’s official Christmas tree lighting.  Bring your family and friends to enjoy holiday treats, hot cocoa and caroling.  (Weather Permitting)

Country Lights - 6-9pm, hike, bike, or drive thru our Country Lights Loop to add in some festive fun. Lights are located in the 200's loop of the Hen House Ridge Unit 

Support your community and bring a toy to donate to our toy drive!
