Sunset Hike

Experience a change in scenery as the sun sinks below the horizon.
We'll begin our hike just as the sun is beginning to drift toward the horizon. As we go along, the day will turn to dusk. We'll search for the wildlife that become active at twilight, and we'll discover how the world begins to look different in the dark. As we end the hike the sun will begin to set and we can watch the transition from day to night from Observation Bridge.
Join us for the entire hike, or just to watch the sunset.
Sunset is projected to occur at 8:16pm on this date, people wanting to just watch the sunset are recommended to arrive about 30 minutes prior to sunset time.
Hikers will meet at the Walnut Slough Day Use Area at 7pm
When: 7pm
Where: Walnut Slough Day Use Area located in the Walnut Ridge unit.
Bring: Sturdy shoes, water, flashlight, bag chair
Cost: This event is free with the purchase of a $4 day pass or a Texas State Park Pass.
Reminder: There are no restrooms near the trailhead so plan accordingly. This program is weather dependent and may be canceled if conditions are unfavorable.
