Star Party (RSVP Required)

Explore the stars of the night sky, learning how to navigate, the stories of constellations, and maybe even see some early meteors from the yearly Perseid meteor shower.

Humans have long looked to the night sky for guidance, inspiration, and storytelling. Join a park ranger for an evening under the stars as we explore the wonders of our universe together. Peer through telescopes to get a closer view of distant space objects and learn how people across history have connected with the cosmos.
This week also brings the annual Perseid meteor shower. While our program doesn’t fall on the peak night, we may still catch a few shooting stars streaking across the sky.
Come ready to look up, wonder, and discover.

Meet: At the Visitor Center

Bring: Foldable chair, water, insect repellant, closed-toe shoes, a flashlight preferably with a red lens. (The park as a limited supply of red flashlights we can loan out)

Cost: Free with park admission. Park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass. Day passes can be purchased ahead of time on our website.

Accessibility: This program takes place on a paved, level patio that is suitable for wheelchair users and visitors with limited mobility. Accessible parking is located close to the program area for easy access.
