Hiking Through History

Join us on a hike through time, starting in modern history and hiking down to 300-million-year old fossils!
Pedernales Falls State Park has a very long history that is riddled with extreme changes in environment. Join our park ranger as we hike down and pass through human history all the way down to bedrock that was laid down 300 million years ago!
- Hike will leave from the Main Falls parking lot.
- Hike will be about 1 mile and will have uphill and downhill portions. Child and dog friendly. (Dogs must be on a leash at all times in the park)
- Accessibility: This hike is a gentle sloping gravel trail with one section that is steeper. The main overlook has some stairs to get down to it, but they are not steep. At the end of the event there is an optional hike down to the river that goes down 60 steps and explores rocky and sandy areas of the river.
- Wear comfortable hiking clothing for the weather.
- Bring plenty of water for yourself and any pets you bring.
Normal entrance fees required to enter park, no additional fees or registration required to attend the event.
