Events must fall between October 11-27, 2024, for inclusion in the Texas Pollinator BioBlitz calendar.

Oct. 27 9:00am - 5:00pm Power of Migration: A Monarch Exhibition Austin Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Stop by the Wildflower Center's Little House for a special exhibition celebrating the monarch butterfly's migratory route and life cycle. Through photos, educational activities and more, visitors will discover how they can help support these endangered creatures. Entry is included with general garden admission.
Fri. Oct. 11 8:00am - 12:00pm TX Pollinator Bioblitz -San Antonio Kickoff @ Toyota Demo Garden San Antonio Toyota-Environmental, TPWD, Alamo Area Texas Master Naturalist Join us for the Texas Pollinator 2024 SA Kickoff at Toyota! This event is open to Toyota employees, university faculty and students, members of the Audubon & Native Plant Society, SARA River Warriors, Texas Master Naturalists, and general public.
Free event but Registration Required
Event Details: We'll be using the iNaturalist app to conduct a fun and interactive bioblitz in Toyota’s natural spaces.
Survey Location #1: Open to the Public: Pollinator-Wildlife Demonstration Garden, located next to the Experience Visitor Center.
Survey Location #2: VIP Access: Westfield Grassland Habitat, the future home of the Texas Horned Lizard project. Access limited to Texas Master Naturalists and other iNaturalist partners. 
Sat. Oct. 12 9:00am - 1:00pm Texas Pollinator BioBlitz Clarksville Red River chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists Short (15 min) presentation with a display of local pollinators and wildflowers at the small pavilion near Ken Bishop Memorial Nature Trails. Disperse to take photographs. Return to pavilion at noon to eat your own sack lunch and share findings with others.

3rd Annual Jasper County Texas Pollinator BioBlitz Martin Dies, Jr. State Park Longleaf Ridge chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists and Jasper County Master Gardeners Join the Longleaf Ridge Master Naturalists and the Jasper County Master Gardeners for the Texas Pollinator Bioblitz at Martin Dies Jr. State Park Education Center to learn how to use the iNaturalist app to identify area pollinators. Participate in a fun Pollinator Scavenger Hunt with prizes. Make both a Solitary Bee House and a Pinecone Bird Feeder to take home. Free insect stickers and bluebonnet seeds. Lots of educational information about Texas pollinators. All children and adults are welcome.
Sat. Oct. 12 10:00am - 2:00pm Monarch Fest Granbury Rio Brazos Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists & Acton Nature Center Free public event for children and adults. Welcome the Monarch Butterflies on their annual journey south. Fun activities and education stations about migration, tagging, life cycle, and how you can help the Monarch’s survival. Event flyer

Oct. 13 7:45pm - 9:45pm Mothing at Pease Park Austin Pease Park Conservancy featuring Dr. Curtis Eckerman Pease Park Conservancy is excited to partner with Dr. Curtis Eckerman for another field moth study in the park! Stop by to learn about some of the species found within Pease Park and help collect citizen science in honor of the Texas Pollinator BioBlitz! Registration required to receive parking and event information.

Moths, Owls, and S'mores, Oh My! Boerne Cibolo Center for Conservation We all know that bees pollinate flowers, but did you know that many moths visit flowers, too – and that there are nearly 5,000 species statewide? Join us for a fun mothing event! We’ll begin around the campfire with s’mores, then venture down to Cibolo Creek to discover what moths are being attracted to blacklights with special guest TPWD Texas Nature Tracker Biologist Craig Hensley. We'll even listen for bats and Barred Owls. $10/person or $30/family (includes s'mores!).

Park After Dark: Hunter's Moon Bio-Blitz Cedar Hill State Park Texas Parks and Wildlife Department We will be documenting the nocturnal pollinators at Cedar Hill State Park! Several stations with UV lights will attract numerous insects and other arthropods, and we'll use iNaturalist to identify as many as we can!

Lake Arlington Native Plant and Pollinator Garden BioSurvey Arlington Arlington Water Utilities and Tarrant Regional Water District Join Arlington Water Utilities and Tarrant Regional Water District for a 3-hour volunteer shift at
the Lake Arlington Native Plant and Pollinator Garden, where we’ll observe onsite wildlife and plants! During the event, we’ll take photos of plants and wildlife to post on the iNaturalist app.

TP&W Bio Blitz and Caterpillar Races Katy Willow Fork Park Participate in the 2024 Texas Parks & Wildlife BioBlitz. We will be using the phone app, iNaturalist, to take pictures of all wildlife and pollinators at Willow Fork Park and upload them to the iNaturalist site. Instruction on how to use the iNaturalist app will be provided. We also will be having caterpillar races for children and adults.

Benchmark Bioblitz @ Future Site Arboretum SA San Antonio Native Plant Society of Texas- San Antonio Chapter & Arboretum-SA Join us for an iNaturalist Bioblitz and nature walk at the future site of Arboretum San Antonio! Participation is limited to 40 adults, ages 18 and up, due to the site's current lack of facilities, as the Arboretum is not yet open to the public. Still in the early stages of development, Arboretum San Antonio is slated for a grand opening in 2025, with much work ahead. This citizen science Bioblitz will focus on documenting and benchmarking the site's flora and fauna using the iNaturalist app. Registration Required

Twilight Pollinator Bioblitz San Antonio -  Trueheart Ranch Nature Park San Antonio River Authority  Join us at Trueheart Ranch Nature Park for a spooky Twilight Pollinator Bioblitz! We'll be on the lookout for moths, butterflies, bees, wasps, ants, and even birds as part of this citizen science event. Texas Master Naturalist, will be expert guides, bringing moth-capturing equipment to help us spot some fascinating species. We’ll also have black lights set up to discover scorpions—while they’re not pollinators, they’re still cool!

We will have a water cooler for water bottle refills.

Night Wing Watch Texas Pollinator Bioblitz San Antonio San Antonio River Foundation   This free public event is open to all ages! Join us for a hauntingly good time at Cochineala: Halloween Festival of Nature and Art at Confluence Park. Enjoy festivities like the Monarch Butterfly Tag and take part in collecting valuable citizen science data for the Texas Pollinator BioBlitz along the riverbanks. Help us search for pollinators, including moths, butterflies, bats, bees, and wasps. Don't miss out on this unique blend of nature, art, and Halloween fun!
Bring your own lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

Moth Discovery New Waverly (north of Conroe) U.S. Forest Service, Sam Houston Ranger District We will have light sheets set up to attract nocturnal pollinators. Staff will be on hand to demonstrate the use of the iNaturalist mobile app and explaining the importance of nocturnal pollinators and citizen science.

Texas Pollinator BioBlitz Event at Crownridge Canyon Natural Area San Antonio San Antonio Parks and Recreation We will learn how to make nature observations with the iNaturalist smart-phone app. Then we will explore the accessible Cedar Flats Trail in groups, observing pollinators and nectar-producing plants and adding them to iNaturalist. All ages are welcome; and registration is appreciated!

Travis County BCP Texas Pollinator BioBlitz Austin Travis County Balcones Canyonlands Preserve Participating is easy – we will hike in groups taking pictures of pollinators you see and adding them to iNaturalist. Beginners and kids are welcome! This is a great way to enjoy the beautiful weather, learn more about the pollinators in your area, and contribute to community science!

Sun. Oct. 27 10:00am - 5:00pm Autumn Pollinator Bioblitz  El Paso Keystone Heritage Park Introduction to the park and iNaturalist by Dr. Paul Hyder.  Insect display boxes on view.  A presentation on bats.  There will also be a Paint and Sip activity and a few vendors.  Come have fun learning about and seeing local pollinators!!!
