Get Outside Events

Discover, learn, and play outdoors with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). Get Outside brings hands-on activities to communities across Texas – helping kids and families build skills, make memories, and become stewards of our wild places.

What to Expect

• Hands-on activities: archery, fishing, camping skills, and conservation learning
• Friendly instructors and volunteers to guide every step
• Short, drop-in experiences designed for beginners and all skill levels

Who Should Come

• Youth ages 6–17 and their families
• First-time participants and returning outdoor enthusiasts
• Community groups, scouts, schools, and clubs

Why It Matters

• Learn safe, fun outdoor skills
• Connect with Texas’ natural and cultural resources
• Understand how licenses and conservation work together to support wildlife and public lands

Accessibility and Safety

• Inclusive and family-friendly; basic adaptations available on site when possible

Cost

• Admission varies by host event; Get Outside activities are free once you’re inside
