of the Sulphur River, 2 miles northwest of Sulphur Springs

Aquatic Vegetation
The most abundant aquatic species is American lotus, which is concentrated in the upper end of the reservoir. The high turbidity of the water inhibits growth of submerged vegetation. During periods of high water levels, flooded terrestrial vegetation and native emergent species can provide additional habitat.

Angling Opportunities
The quality of the crappie fishery is fair, with a population dominated by many small individuals with few larger fish. Blue and channel catfish are present, and the population of blue catfish contains a high percentage of harvestable fish. Largemouth bass are uncommon and their limited numbers do not support a fishery.

Fishing Cover/Structure
When Sulphur Springs Lake was built, it flooded two existing reservoirs, Century Lake and White Oak Lake. This reservoir is shallow and turbid with little available habitat, conditions which are not favorable to the development of largemouth bass, sunfish, and crappie fisheries. Aquatic vegetation is scarce and the lake has few areas of flooded timber.
Tips & Tactics
Prepared and cut-baits work well for blue catfish when fishing around the dam that separates the lower and upper ends of the reservoir.
