False Limpet
Siphonaria pectinata
False limpets graze on tiny algae growing on rocks and jetties. Their single cone-shaped shell helps break up the force of waves that strike the rocks.
These limpets are called false because, unlike most other marine snails, they don't breathe through gills. Instead, false limpets use a siphon that stickes out of hole in the top of their shell.
