Leiostomus xanthurus
Spot are very common in bays and shallow Gulf waters. There, they feed on shrimp, marine worms, small shellfish and other creatures that live on the bottom. Spot grow quickly on their diet, but die young. Some are 13 inches long when they die after just one year. Can you spot where these fish got their name?
